Clarity Welcomes Monitor Audio and Airt Audio as New Members

Clarity is pleased to announce that Monitor Audio and Airt Audio have joined the UK hi-fi industry trade association, strengthening the membership portfolio with the addition of two more important UK based companies.

Founded in 1972 and based in Rayleigh, Essex, Monitor Audio is one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality loudspeakers for hi-fi, home cinema and custom installation use. Its newly opened Experience Centre in Rayleigh recently hosted Clarity’s latest industry focus round-table discussion event, at which the company confirmed its intention to join the trade association.

At the same event, Airt Audio, distributor of class-leading brands including Vitus, Avalon and Gold Note, committed itself to membership, in order to work with the association to promote the future of the industry.

“I was hugely enthused by the round-table discussion held at Monitor Audio’s offices and the breadth of knowledge, ideas and passion voiced by those in attendance,” says Fraser Robertson, director of Airt Audio. “It is vital for the future of the hi-fi industry that events like this take place, giving a voice to people working in the industry who care deeply about ensuring a strong and sustainable future for hi-fi in the UK. We are very pleased to support these initiatives and do our bit to help Clarity in its mission.”

Michael Johnson, global marketing director for Monitor Audio, mirrors Fraser’s feelings, “We attended Clarity’s first round-table event and were impressed by the very positive views of those present, who represented a mainly female perspective. It is so encouraging to see the make-up of the industry becoming more diverse and representative and we believe it is important to support initiatives like this that are designed to ensure long-term prosperity, hence hosting the second such event and committing our resources to help Clarity in its work.”

Clarity’s objective with the round-table discussions is to find ways of reaching out to groups of people who are under-represented in the hi-fi industry, and to demonstrate what an exciting career it can offer. As Elizabeth Gould, chairman of Clarity puts it, “Hi-fi has been a primarily male dominated industry for years and is also an ageing industry, both from an internal and customer perspective. If the industry is to thrive and prosper in the face of countless other distractions and pulls on consumers’ wallets, it needs to bring in new faces and younger faces.

“Our round table discussions are intended to be a way of bringing like-minded people together to discuss and debate how to encourage a broader cross section of the society to not only buy hi-fi, but to choose to work in the sector. After all, it’s a great industry to be part of and so we will be working under the banner of ‘Hi-Fi Future’ to organise more events of this nature and warmly welcome the decision of both Airt Audio and Monitor Audio to join us in our quest.”
